Real Belle Vogue Bride Alexa + Kylan
Real Belle Vogue bride Alexa and her husband Kylan had an intimate and personal wedding here in Kansas City. They paid tribute to their relationship by having a KU decorated cake in honor of where they met. Alexa fell head over heels for the first dress she tried on in Belle Vogue, Style 1075 from Martina Liana. While she loved that she could look through all of the gowns at Belle Vogue, she knew that 1075 was the dress for her. Alexa looked absolutely radiant. Congratulations, Alexa and Kylan!
In March 2018 we took a trip to Nashville where my parents live and where I lived for a year after college. Nashville holds a special place in Kylan’s and my heart because it’s our favorite city, and is home to our favorite hockey team (go Preds!) My parents, Kylan, and I wanted Kylan’s parents to experience the one-of-a-kind atmosphere of Bridgestone arena, so we planned a trip around a Preds game. Little did I know this was the weekend we were getting engaged! We spent the day at Jack Daniel’s tasting different whiskeys and then traveled downtown to a rooftop bar called LA Jackson. After a few cocktails, Kylan and I wanted to take a picture with the Nashville skyline in the background. We walked over to the edge and right as the picture was being taken he dropped to a knee! A magical proposal.
I always knew I wanted to look elegant but sexy, traditional but with modern elements. I’ve always envisioned myself walking down the aisle in an A-Line dress or ball gown, and Belle Vogue gave me a dress that checked all those boxes! I went into the appointment knowing I wanted some beading/design, a low-cut back and a long train. My sales associate Taylor was SO amazing in helping me throughout the entire process from the moment I walked through the doors to the moment I picked up my dress! I had some bridesmaids with me and we all loved how we could roam the store and pick the dresses off the racks to try on. I immediately gravitated towards Martina Liana’s collection and went straight for 1075. It was the first dress I saw, the first I tried on and I fell completely in love. I tried on about 10 other gorgeous gowns but 1075 felt like it was made for me.
The Wedding Details
The theme of the wedding was similar to my bridal style. I wanted classic and elegant but with modern and unique twists. My mom helped plan and design the whole day, we couldn’t have done it without her! Our colors were neutrals with pops of burgundy and pink, and our florals had plenty of ivory, burgundy and light pink with lots of greenery accents. The groomsmen wore all black suits with black ties and a pop of color with socks representing all of Kylan’s favorite sports teams. The bridesmaids wore earl grey chiffon dresses with statement crystal earrings. Every wedding guest (above the age of 21) had a shooter of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire waiting for them at their seat with a note explaining a family tradition started by Kylan of taking a shot of Tennessee Fire before any fun occasion to get the party started! My Great Aunt Sandy (Yaya) also made Kylan’s groom’s cake decorated for KU which is where Kylan and I met and is Kylan’s favorite basketball team. Rock Chalk!
My most special memory of the day was spending every minute surrounded by those I love most. It made my heart so full to feel the love and excitement from family and friends, and to FINALLY get to marry the man of my dreams. One moment that was particularly special was my first look with my dad. A couple of months ago he suffered a heart attack that shook our family to the core. Having him there to share in my wedding day was the best gift. Seeing his reaction to me in my dress is a memory I will cherish forever.
