Real Belle Vogue Bride Madison + Jay
Surrounded by family, friends and a cute four-legged flower girl, Belle Vogue bride, Madison, said “I do” to her husband, Jay, in a romantic Loose Park wedding! We have a special spot in our hearts for couples who incorporate our spectacular city into their nuptials, and this wedding is no exception. Read on for more!
Labor Day weekend of 2017 was one for the books! Friday was my birthday and also the day we moved in together in our just purchased Waldo home. After tossing our belongings (literally) into the home, we drove to Herman, MO for drinks and celebrating my birthday. Saturday morning, we drove an hour through the rolling hills and fog to Catawissa, MO, where we were picking up their long-awaited Bernese Mountain dog puppy, Rosemary. The farm she lived on was perfectly manicured by owners, who also bred show llamas! We took some time to get to know Rosemary and walked around a private pond. It was a very hot day and I was so distracted by all the excitement, I didn’t notice Jay was wearing a heavy jacket – he had to hide the ring box somewhere! As we turned to walk back towards the house, Jay surprised me by dropping down on one knee and popping the question. Of course, I responded with YES!, then followed with the question ‘is it insured?!’ We had a good laugh and a much relieved (and very hot) Jay quickly took off his jacket. The owner’s of the farm took tons of photos to document the engagement and new little family!
Finding the Wedding Dress of Her Dreams
I designed my custom Martina Liana gown with the design team from Belle Vogue! I also wore a custom-made detachable overskirt for the ceremony, which is made from a very special family heirloom. The gown is 75 years old and I was the 4th woman of 3 generations (Great Aunt, Grandmother, My Mother and now me!) to wear it on her wedding day!
The Wedding Details
Our wedding day included special and meaningful touches that meant a lot to us as a couple. It was a traditional and classic event, including shades of whites, ivories and champagnes, but also included so many fun details that are representative of our fun, quirky personalities — marching parade, Mexican dinner, emphasis on a fun dance floor!
Even from the initial stages of planning, we made it clear that the goal of our wedding day was to spend as much time with the people we love. We didn’t want the weekend focused on us as much as we wanted it to be a “thank you” party for our friends and family for encouraging, mentoring and shaping us as individuals, while also acknowledging their support of our relationship.
